Investor’s Corner – Valmont Industries, Inc.
Founded in 1946, Valmont Industries, Inc. has called Nebraska home for nearly 80 years. In its early days, the company was known for creating the world’s first center pivot irrigation system in Valley, NE. Today, Valmont is a global leader in creating vital infrastructure and advancing agricultural productivity with 11,000 employees across 84 locations and 21 countries.
Valmont serves two primary segments — infrastructure and agriculture — and operates through six markets we serve: Utility, Lighting and Transportation, Telecom, Solar, Coatings and Irrigation. The company’s purpose of conserving resources and improving life is more than just words; it’s a promise. Valmont galvanizes steel to last a century with minimal environmental impact, modernizes irrigation to feed a growing population by utilizing the latest technology, hardens the electrical grid to enable the delivery of reliable power to millions of homes around the world and helps make communities everywhere safer, cleaner and more connected through its infrastructure.
Valmont works on numerous projects worldwide, but a recent project in its own backyard brings tremendous pride in bringing our hometown community together and improving life.
“In collaboration with project partners and city leaders, we helped develop 72 acres of safe, inviting, greener parkland at The RiverFront in downtown Omaha,” said Tim Donahue, Group President, Infrastructure. “This project is a standout example of the power of collaboration and bringing a community together through our infrastructure. Many businesses and philanthropists came together to provide a more sustainable park system that cultivates growth and strengthens the Omaha community.”
Valmont developed and installed some of the park infrastructure, which included more than 500 LED light poles that help keep parkgoers safe. In addition, Valmont created an entertaining experience with all-angle LED lighting that surrounds a stunning all-season skating rink that brings together approximately 10,000 monthly visitors to the park. The area not only sees much more community use, but it is also an award-winning project. In July, The RiverFront received the Urban Land Institute’s Americas Awards for Excellence, specifically in Urban Open Space. This prestigious honor recognizes the project’s outstanding design and its transformative impact on community engagement and urban revitalization.
People are at the heart of what Valmont does. By embracing its core values of passion, integrity, continuous improvement, and delivering results, Valmont builds a workforce focused on engineering excellence and manufacturing expertise, providing solutions to address some of the world’s biggest challenges. The company’s focus on professional development further enhances this environment, providing employees with opportunities to grow their skills and advance their careers.
Valmont’s commitment to professional development includes investing in the Greater Omaha Chamber. Amongst many events and programs, Valmont enjoys sponsoring and sending young professionals to the annual YP Summit.
“We believe it’s essential to have our young employees connected in Omaha, and this event allows them to network with people and businesses across the city and learn more about what Omaha has to offer. We are also committed to investing in our hometown community to ensure Omaha has the jobs and amenities people are looking for.” said Jennifer Paisley, Senior Vice President, Human Resources.
Valmont takes pride in supporting Omaha’s growth by providing vital infrastructure and advancing agricultural productivity. The company invites other businesses to join the Chamber to help sustain this momentum.
